Nate Diaz, the UFC’s prodigal son, is returning to the promotion.
The longtime fan-favorite will fill 50% of the gap that has been a bothersome existence in the UFC.
The elder of Stockton, nick, the Diaz brothers of California, has not competed in MMA. Thus, it is great to have among the siblings that are no-nonsense rejoin the planet’s leading martial arts company.
Diaz’s competition for his comeback fight is your UFC champion, Anthony Pettis. He’ll be hoping this one ends better than his last bout inside the Octagon.
Diaz’s final bout led to what you could refer to as a”lose-win situation” for the now 34-year-old.
By the narrowest of decisions, the Cesar Gracie BJJ black belt dropped in his highly anticipated rematch with Conor McGregor at UFC 202. Disappointing, sure, but at least he must wash the tears off his face with a cool $13 million into his joint bag and pay-per-view earnings.
Of course he wanted a while off.
Now the UFC boy will probably focus on Pettis and an opportunity to re-establish himself.
As with his last two bouts against McGregor, this one will probably be fought at welterweight. Diaz is 2-3 in his last five fights in 170 pounds while Pettis is 1-0 at the UFC in welterweight following an incredible win over Stephen Thompson at March.
What a fight we’ve got in store.
